Thirty Things On My 30th

Well here we are! I’m THIRTY! I promised myself I’d never turn 30. It was a joke of course. I planned on turning 30 one day. Looking back, there were so many amazing and huge things that happened in my 20’s: I moved out of my childhood home, graduated college, met this really amazing guy – Chris, started my career, got engaged, Chris and I got married, got a dog, bought a place, had a baby, sold a place, bought another place, traveled to some new places. So many life changing moments for me, luckily, lots of positive, little negative. I’d like to think that everything I’ve experienced has taught me about myself and a bit about life.

Here are 30 things I know now that I’m 30.

  1. Stop buying shoes that hurt.
  2. Stop buying clothes that you don’t LOVE.
  3. Trust your gut.
  4. You really do become like the group of people you keep close. So pick wisely.
  5. There’s no such thing as the “right time”.
  6. Put yourself and your family first.
  7. Hug and show your parents that you love them.
  8. Your body grows, changes, loses, gains. You have one amazing body. Be grateful for it and take care.
  9. Balance.
  10. Take photos! But if you forget, it’s probably because you had a really good time.
  11. Laugh a lot. Laugh loud.
  12. Show kindness.
  13. We can’t live in fear of the unknown.
  14. Don’t feel bad about treating yourself.
  15. Speak up.
  16. Family. Chosen and given family really matters. Build those relationships, cherish them and keep them close.
  17. Everyone is different. Keep an open mind and an open heart.
  18. Make time to play!
  19. Find the fun in all things you do.
  20. Boost people up.
  21. Fake it till you make it.
  22. A hug heals a lot of things.
  23. Success is not a straight line.
  24. Perception is a thing.
  25. Be mindful.
  26. Listen first.
  27. Say thank you.
  28. It’s hard to do things by yourself. Ask for help.
  29. Is it life or death? No? Don’t stress about it.
  30. You get what you have the courage to ask for. Be fearless.
