Alice Lake Provincial Park is off Highway 99, north of Squamish BC. It is about an hour’s drive from Downtown Vancouver. Our family has been visiting Alice Lake to go camping, for years! We go every year because it’s not far from the city, it has a serene and beautiful lake and well-kept amenities.
Camping at Alice Lake Provincial Park is Very Kid Friendly
The campgrounds are spacious, the trees are mature and each campsite feels private. The roads in the park are paved, which is great for all types of bikes, scooters and strollers. There is a nice playground and a new pump track near the lake. In the Summer months, you can rent a canoe from the boat shack. The lake doesn’t allow boats with motors so the park and lake are quiet and serene. The lake has day use parking and has plenty of picnic tables. Our family loves it here. I highly recommend reserving a spot on the BC Parks website as this campground fills up quickly.
The Campsites
The entire campground is fairly large and splits into 2 sections: A & B with group sites.
Campsite A is closest to the Lake, Playground and Pumptrack. Campsite B is across the main road.
The camping pads are large, and fairly even with gravel. We camp with a trailer and there are sites available with electrical hook-up, which is great because you’ll have all the comforts of home but in the woods.
We’ve also camped at Alice Lake without a trailer and the washrooms are clean and have hot water and showers.
Things to Remember
Dogs are allowed at the campsite, on a leash. Unfortunately, they are NOT allowed on any of the trails leading to the lake and they are not allowed at the beach.
There are bears! Alice Lake’s park staff have zero tolerance for campers that do not put their garbage away before they leave for the lake OR go to bed. They will kick you out, with no second chances and no excuses. They can be nice about it, but they will ask you to pack up and leave right there and then.
You have to remember to put all your garbage in the park bins or in your car before you leave your campsite.
There are a geese at the lake. Be sure to rinse off after swimming 🙂
