Her Modern Shop is an online boutique with a collection of timeless pieces influenced by the west coast, expressing femininity without jeopardizing comfort. We chatted with Brianna, the creator and owner behind Her Modern Shop to dig a little deeper about this beautiful Canadian online shop.
Tell me about Her Modern Shop! Who is it for?
Her Modern Shop is a online based fashion boutique. I like to think Her Modern Shop has something for everyone! Inspired by life on the West Coast its for the feminine individual who values comfort and style. As we’ve all adapted to life indoors I think everyones realized how important it is to feel good in your clothes and that is something I strive to source!
What will we find at your shop?
You’ll find quite a selection of quality basics. From tanks, to bralettes, to bodysuits. A good quality basic is the definitely the key to a great wardrobe! There is also a pretty good selection of fun, flirty dresses and jumpers. Most of them are an oversized fit for comfort. You might also notice majority of the products are neutral colours. This is to help create a more “seasonless” product lineup so customers can wear their clothing all year round.
Where do you find your inspiration for buying for the shop?
West Coast living is a huge inspiration for a lot of the products I source. Most of the pieces you’ll find in the shop are from female owned fashion brands based in Los Angeles. I love pieces that are casual enough to pair with denim but also can be dressed up. I also try to keep the mid-size community top of mind. As someone who has been everything from a size 8 to a size 12 I know how hard it can be to find pieces that are fun but also comfortable. I also know how much confidence it can bring someone when they feel good in their outfit!
What is the price point?
The price point of most pieces is average. Our basic collection ranges from between $20-$30. The dresses, jumpers and loungewear collections don’t exceed $90 a piece. Being primarily online based helps keep the price of pieces affordable.
Why did you want to start Her Modern Shop?
I actually started reselling on a few different platforms a few years ago. My main goal was to open an online based consignment business. However, I never liked that the relationship with the customer was short and sweet. I’ve always loved shopping at boutiques. Finding one of a kind pieces but also getting to connect with the shop. I wanted to create something similar but online based. And that is why I started Her Modern Shop.
What do you love about owning Her Modern Shop?
Throughout my year of being in business I’ve loved making people feel a little bit better through fashion. Especially in today’s world. Seeing peoples videos and photos online of products from my shop makes me so incredibly happy! And grateful.
What is your favourite piece in the shop right now?
Ah, this is tough but I LOVE The Picnic Dress. Its not the typical piece I bring in. Its a banana yellow gingham print with a ruffle hem. It’s made of cotton and spandex so its lightweight for the summer months.
