3 years ago I made my very FIRST YouTube video as an expecting parent. It was shot on my iPhone. I really had no idea what I was doing. At the time we lived in a 1-bedroom 800 sq ft apartment in Vancouver. 800 sq ft is actually pretty large for an apartment in Vancouver, so we considered ourselves lucky! However, when we announced our pregnancy, the number 1 question I’d get asked is, “will you guys move to a bigger place?”
I was never offended by that question. At the time, we had no intention of selling our place and leaving for something bigger or with more bedrooms. We just knew we could make it work.
In fact, when “The Urban Mom” blog was born, my “motto” was “Making Love Grow In Small Spaces”. I nested with that motto in mind. We didn’t need a lot of gear for our baby, just the necessities. What really mattered is that we had our health, we were happy and we had lots of diapers, wipes and nipple cream – for Mom!!
The products I talk about in this video are products we actually have and made our life in an apartment with a baby so much easier.
Here’s my Baby Gear Must-Haves for Small Spaces:

- A place to put the baby’s clothes. We used this IKEA bookshelf (which was a part of our entertainment unit) and an adjustable clothing rod (like this)
