You can tell who the parents are when they arrive at the beach. They show up with one of those folding wagons overflowing with floaties, towels, blankets, snacks, beach toys, a cooler and a friggin’ tent. (Haha! I may have wanted one of those tents at one time…) Chris likes to travel light, I like to be prepared, but I don’t like carrying a lot so it’s “prepared” not “prepared for anything”, there’s a difference! Haha! Anyways, we were kinda like “those parents” showing up to the beach each day in Hawaii. We stuffed everything into the stroller including an umbrella. Our poor stroller was riding low and squeaking it’s way to the beach. Gone are the days of throwing a towel in our bags and heading to the beach!
There’s a lot of thought that goes into what we bring now… 1 because I don’t want to over pack. 2 because I don’t want to forget what we need.
Here’s what our packing list looks like for our Beach Bag with our 10 month baby Mikayla.
- Travel sized Baby Powder
- Beach Umbrella
- Light blanket (I like bringing a muslin swaddle, in case she falls asleep I can cover her with this)
- Thin Beach blanket
- Thin Beach Towels (1 big one and 1 hand towel)
- Water
- Formula
- Snacks
- Hat
- Swim diapers
- Bathing suit
- Sunscreen
My Favourite Hacks:
- Get rid of sand from every sweaty or wet crevice with BABY POWDER! This makes putting on a diaper, clothes and the ride home more comfortable for a hot, sweaty baby.
- Keep a hand towel sand free. It’ll come in handy to wipe and clean sandy hands and faces. Mikayla will rub her eyes when she’s tired and she doesn’t realize that you’re not supposed to do that when you have sand on your hands. 😉 DUHHH girlfriend!!
When she gets older we’ll bring a floaty for her and some toys but for now, we’re enjoying the fact that we don’t have to bring a wagon, YET. 🙂
