It’s hard to put into words how much I love this little babe. With everything going on in the news, I just look at her and she reminds me to be kind, be thankful and be hopeful. She is the definition of love. She is my future, she brings us so much joy and happiness. We are so thankful for her.
From the beginning we knew Mikayla was a goofy baby. She loved seeing us laugh and smile, and she would give us a laugh when she saw us laughing. At 14 months her personality is starting to shine through. She loves putting spoons or in this case, hay in her mouth and moving it up and down with her teeth to make it move. She gives us a funny face and we can’t help but laugh. It’s so cute!
She enjoys walking and she’ll look for your hand to hold. She likes pointing and “talking” about what she sees. She’ll point at our dog Zoey and say “Zaa Za”. We call Zoey Zo Zo but she calls her Zaaa. When Mikayla sees other dogs she goes “Woo Woo” in a low voice, which means “Woof Woof”. She’ll point at Chris or Me or photos of us and she’ll say “Dada” or “Mamamama”. So cute! Makes my heart burst.
Going to the pumpkin patch this year turned into a new tradition, something we’ll do every year. We had some friends over at our place the night before for pizza and drinks which turned into a few people sleeping over. Then we were up early the next day, met the rest of the group at the Starbucks in Ladner and after grabbing our coffees to go, we headed to the Pumpkin Patch at Westham Island Herb Farm.
It’s amazing how far Mikayla has come. We’re able to keep her bedtime, still have friends over and she goes right to bed and falls asleep even with all the noise and people over. I feel like we’re winning at life right now! LOL. Everyone said it gets better, and it really does. The newborn stage is just a stage and looking back, it went by so fast, but yes it was just a stage and we’re having so much fun.
Mikayla loved the farm animals at the farm, especially the goats. She can’t pass a flower without smelling it, and had so much fun finding the tiniest pumpkin for her to take home. At home Mikayla is all about the games. She loves, loves LOVES Peek-A-Boo. She’ll run to one side of the couch and peek around to see you Peek-a-boo! She also loves going under a blanket, like a fort. Books are another thing she enjoys. She’ll point at a tiger or a lion in her book and go “Rarrrr”. She can point out flowers, cars, birds. It’s amazing to see how much she understands now.
With her walking around, running and getting into everything, we’re pretty busy at home. We’re always watching her because she gets into everything! She’ll open up drawers and look in them. If we leave the tupperware cupboard open, you can be sure all of those containers will be everywhere. The house is a mess 90% of the time, I’ve had to learn to just let that go. The minute she sees me holding something new or eating something she wants to know what it is, or she wants a taste.
Meal time is a mess too, but it’s a fun, yummy mess. She’s learning to eat with a fork or a spoon. It’s cute to see her pick up her food with her hand and try to put it on her fork that way, instead of stabbing her fork into her food on the plate. Haha! So cute. She loves MILK. She’s drinking Homo Milk now, and just loves it. She’s got a perma milk belly. If you ask her where her belly is she’ll lift up her shirt and show it to you, or she’ll rub her belly. Like I said, we’re having so much fun with her at this age! We can’t wait to celebrate Halloween with her in the next few weeks where she’ll be Trick-or-Treating for the first time in our new neighbourhood.
Those are some beautiful images! Im having flashbacks to when my (almost 3 year old daughter) was that young. she still loves Peek a Boo and now loves to say I see you!
So cute! Looks like a very fun day.
