Being a Mom to a newborn baby is tough work! So, I get it if you’re looking for easy products, or an easy routine or if you don’t even care what you use on your face. But trust me, this newborn stage is only temporary… it gets easier! And hey, it’s important to take care of yourself! Happy momma, happy baby.
I made it apart of my routine to take care of my skin. I have dry, sensitive skin on my face so this is my nightly routine that I’ve stuck to since I was a teen and has worked for me. When you’re a teen your hormones are all over the place, zits, dry skin, redness, shine. Now you’re a new Mom and your skin is replaying that old story. These are some of my favourite, easy to use products that I’ve been using for a long, long time. Some for over 10 years!
Night Time:
- Wash your face. If you wear make up, it is so important to wash your face and take off all your make up before you go to bed. I like using VIVA Organic Face Wash. (I’ve probably been using their products for over 10 years). I don’t wear a lot of make up, so this cleanser does the trick for me. It has a smooth, gel-like consistency which I love massaging into my skin. It’s like getting a facial. It’s also gentle. So when I’m breaking out it doesn’t irritate those spots and make them redder.
- Moisturize face and neck. I use Viva Organic’s Hyaluronic Acid Serum. This serum keeps moisture in! So important, since you’re getting less sleep and maybe a little stressed. I then use the Body Shop’s Vitamin E cream. It’s rich and smells like baby lotion. I dip a finger in the pot and massage it all over my face and neck. Relaxing.
- Moisturize Lips. Lip balm! I use any and all kinds.
Day Time:
- Sunscreen. After splashing some cool water on my face to wake me up I use La-Roche Posay Sunscreen. I’ve used many kinds of sunscreens and I like this one the best for my sensitive skin. I use it on my lips too…
Once a week I use a Face Mask. Over the years I’ve gone through many masks. Currently I’m really liking LUSH’s Don’t Look At Me Brightening Face Mask. It exfoliates my skin, plus makes my tired Mom-skin bright and awake looking, even if I may not be feeling it… and that’s the goal right folks?! HAHA!
Do you have any favourite skincare products that you swear by?
