Spring Cleaning – Why It’s Alright To Hire Some Help

A few weeks ago I made a Spring Cleaning To-Do list (read: My Spring Cleaning To Do List) and 2 of the items on my list included dusting the entire house and cleaning the kitchen drawers. I was hoping this Spring Cleaning that I could scrub off the grime in the grout in the bathrooms, vacuum our kitchen drawers and cupboards, and eventually wipe and vacuum every corner and baseboard in our house. HOPING is the keyword here. In between full time work, volunteering, vlogging and blogging and being a Mom and Wife… HOPING! 🙂

When you take a step back and think of your home like a business you know that it takes leaders and workers to make the business successful. Everyone has a job and we do our part to make the home run efficiently. But some days Super Moms and Dads need some extra help. Companies do it, they hire help, they contract out companies to take care of other tasks. So why can’t we? Is it a budget thing? Is it because we don’t have the extra money to pay someone to do it. Or are we just embarrassed to ask or hire help?

What if we budget for it? If you were to pay for your nails, hair, fitness classes and make up as an extra investment to yourself, why wouldn’t you do it for… (let’s just call it) your mental health?

5 Reasons Why Hiring Help Is Good:
  1. You’ll be more efficient.
  2. You’ll have more time.
  3. You may enjoy entertaining more. (Mom isn’t gonna be poking around and judging your mess!)
  4. You’ll be less stressed and frazzled.
  5. You’re generally happier. If someone helped you tick something off your list, doesn’t that just make you smile?

It’s alright! As much as you like to think of yourself as Super Mom or Super Dad, some days we’re not. It’s okay to ask for help. Give yourself a breather. Take care of yourself, and think of hiring help as an investment in yourself and your sanity.

I was approached by zenGOT, an online platform that provides quality on-demand home services for their customers, and they invited me to try out their home cleaning services. They offer all kinds of services to help busy people save time!

Spring Cleaning with Zengot

I went to zengot.com and clicked Cleaning Services and from there, I very easily requested a time and date that I would like my house cleaning. As I was filling out the form they gave me a cleaning time estimation and based on the square footage, number of bathrooms and current cleanliness of my home they estimated 3 hours. I got to choose a cleaning person, Danielle H. and I got to message her to let her know how to get to my townhouse and that I’d like her to vacuum and wipe the insides my kitchen drawers as well as pay special attention to our bathtubs, shower and dust everything. I chose Danielle because she was recommended to me but also because she had a dog in her profile picture.

Danielle arrived and was very comfortable with our dog Zoey. She was friendly, nice and professional. I left her at our place with Zoey for 3 hours and came home to a fully clean and fresh home! It smelled great! She cleaned every drawer, left our bathrooms spotless, even folded the ends of toilet paper into little triangles, mopped our floors, took out the garbage, wiped our baseboards and vacuumed the carpet. Those were just SOME of the things she did! She left me a 3 page check list of everything she cleaned and tidied in each room.

Spring cleaning indeed… The house feels brand new!

Now we’re back to using every room without having to think “oh yea, I gotta vacuum/wipe that”… and we’re also back to enjoying baths in a squeaky clean tub!

For $90 for 3 hours, I can totally see myself using this service again, at least once a year for Spring cleaning! Or… Here are some ideas:

When to Hire Help:
  1. The Holidays! It’s so busy in December, there’s all the parties, Christmas activities, Christmas shopping, party prepping and of course you gotta make time to write that Santa letter and meet the big guy.
  2. Spring Cleaning. Spring is a great time to hire someone to clean your home! Refresh!
  3. Summer Vacation. While you’re away on vacation, think about coming home to the grass already cut and your garden cleaned up and de-weeded (is that a word?!).
  4. Big life events. Like a wedding. DUH you need help with this one. Don’t kid yourself, no matter the size, treat yourself by hiring someone to handle the event coordination or set up and tear down so you have NOTHING to worry about.

Thank you zenGOT for helping me knock off some items on my Spring Cleaning list and gifting me more time with the family!
