For Mother’s Day, Chris gifted me a night in Whistler. I love Whistler. I have so many fun and amazing memories there! It’s only a couple hours out of the city yet it feels like you’re truly on vacation. We left the house after breakfast and were on the road during Mikayla’s nap time so she was asleep the whole way up and woke up just in time to check into the Sundial Boutique Hotel. This place was awesome. The room we had was huge and had a beautiful view of the mountains. We had a full kitchen, living room and our own bedroom, which is the ideal set up if you’re traveling with kids!
For one night away Chris and I packed light. Mikayla on the otherhand… well she has a TON of stuff. Here’s what our packing list looks like for her:
- Bottle Warmer
- Formula
- 2 Bottles
- 2 Bibs
- Spoon
- Baby Food Pouches
- Snacks
- Stroller
- Ergo Baby Carrier
- Carseat
- Bathing Suit
- Swimming Diapers
- Regular Diapers
- Wipes
- Light Blanket
- Towel
- Clothes (jacket, 4 tees, 2 pants, 2 shorts, socks, shoes, hats)
- PJs
- Sleep Sack
- Sound Machine
- Bunny
- Blanket
- Playpen and Bed sheet
- Diaper Rash Cream
- Baby Shampoo
- Baby Oil
- Sunscreen
- A couple books and a few toys
- A teether
- Insulated lunch bag (to keep milk and cheese cool – she loves cheese)
- Benadryl and Tylenol (just in case!)
We’ve gone on a few weekend trips with Mikayla and we’ve moved homes twice that I feel we’re pro at packing, or maybe pro at living out of a suitcase… LOL.
Once we got there we went to our favourite bakery, Pure Bread. It’s right by the kids park and amphitheater, near the Olympic Rings. The kids park in Whistler is a dream. Kids’ imaginations go wild after exploring the treehouse-like play structures. Mikayla loved the slides and climbing through the branches and ramps with Dad. After some playtime and shopping we headed back to the hotel. Unfortunately the hotel doesn’t have it’s own pool, but it has access to the pool across the street. We changed and spent the rest of the afternoon at the pool and Mikayla had her first poolside snooze. It was 27 degrees out, so the pool was necessary!
Whistler is super kid friendly during the day, but it can be inconvenient getting around with a stroller, because there aren’t a lot of ramps. We took the stroller around anyway, cus we didn’t want to carry a bunch of bags. It all worked out in the end, it may have just taken a little longer to get around and look for ramps.
We grabbed dinner at the Spaghetti Factory and then headed out for a little walk towards the Upper Village before bed. 🙂
